git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@8125 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
Bugfixes:
- Fix: Watched Locations system (never worked in 1.13)
- Fix: LineOfSight test with NO_DISTANCE_LIMIT (stopped on trees previously)
AI/tactical improvements:
- EstimateThrowDamage additionally calculates damage from fragments (important for AI to use frag grenades with low main damage and many fragments)
- EstimateThrowDamage correctly adds IndoorModifier
- Additional checks for RED suppression (check that the soldier will not shoot his friends, check that he has extra clip to reload weapon, check that target is not cowering, don't suppress when flanking)
- ClosestReachableDisturbance will use general noise only if cannot find any enemy
- Allow RED seeking in prone stance if we haven't seen enemy for several turns
Flanking improvements:
- allow YELLOW flanking for CLOSEPATROL at night
- better YELLOW/RED flanking start/stop conditions
- better RED AI behavior when finished flanking (try to reach flanking spot)
- allow RED flanking for CLOSEPATROL soldiers when at night, overcrowded or no other flanking soldiers yet
Optional AI improvements:
AI_EXTRA_SUPPRESSION
- AI will use suppression fire more often in RED state (set minimum AI CTH to 1)
AI_NEW_MORALE
- Better dynamic morale calculation depending on tactical situation.
- Additional min/max limits for AI morale
- Disabled HOPELESS morale for soldiers without guns (they can pick up weapon or attack with hands sometimes)
AI_BETTER_COVER
- Additional checks for line of sight, fresh corpses and overcrowded locations
AI_EXTRA_FLANKING
- Allow flanking for BRAVEAID/BRAVESOLO
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@8006 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
Improved AI RED/YELLOW flanking:
- better direction calculation (use direction arrays)
- increased search range 4->8
- removed incorrectly calculated AP limit (use CalcActionPoints instead)
- additional direction for flank spot searching
- prefer desired direction
- penalize tiles with no cover from noise location
- penalize tiles too far from noise location
- don't go into deep water for flanking
- skip water tiles (can flank over water tiles only if can cross them in one turn)
- min/max flanking range depends on time of day and base sight range
- skip buildings when searching for flank spot if not in building already, because soldiers often run into buildings and stop flanking
- use RUNNING movement mode for flanking instead of default SWATTING
- only CUNNINGSOLO and CUNNINGAID soldiers flank
- don't start flanking when no friends between soldier and noise gridno (in 3 directions)
- stop flanking when no friends between soldier and noise gridno (in 3 directions)
- stop flanking and reset flank counter in BLACK state
- avoid map edges when flanking
- disable flanking for soldiers with limited roaming range (STATIONARY/ONGUARD/CLOSEPATROL/SNIPER)
In general, AI flanking is much more effective now (it never fully worked previously, especially in turnbased).

- Covert Ops: Bleeding is deemed suspicious only if COVERT_DETECTEDIFBLEEDING is set to TRUE.
- renamed special prisoners to officers.
- lowered the priority of enemy troops becoming medics
- prisoners in player-controlled prisons now use the prioner-colour scheme used by Shank and Dynamo
Requires GameDir >= r2028.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@7179 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Flagmasks are unsigned, and should be called and treated as such
- Fix: experience gain from interrogation was too high
- Fix: chance of a prisoner becoming militia was calculated wrong
- default weight maximum for MOVE ITEM assignment increased from 30 to 40 kg
- Fix: snitches report the same event multiple times
- Fix: snitches treat vehicles as persons
- Fix: selection of launchables is inefficient, an does not take into account wether items are depending on day/night cycle
- new key combination: in strategic, pressing [CTRL] + [E] wile both a merc's inventory and the sector inventory are open will fill the merc's inventory with sector items
- trivial code cleanup
- if prisoners are taken in a sector that houses a prison, that prison can also be selected to house them
- Fix: distributing newly taken prisoners in a prison sector no longer redistributes all prisoners, only the new ones
- GetClosestFlaggedSoldierID can also be called without evaluation of sight
- Fix: Covert Ops: throwing/lobbing items or shooting rockets is deemed suspicious behaviour
- Fix: boxing was broken by loading a savegame
- Fix: campaign history rarely recorded kills in autoresolve
- There is no reason why the IDs that boxers are reset to before they are reinitialised would ever need to be altered by a modder. Required script change in stable GameDir r2024.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@7178 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521

- tanks cannot become medics, and can't be treated by them either
- Menubutton for Role symbol toggle is red if off and green if on
- wounded soldiers seek medics, max range is ENEMY_MEDICS_SEARCHRADIUS / 2
- direct sight line between medic and target is no longer required
- if hostile civilians allied to the army are in sector, their surrender strength is added to the enemy team
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@7080 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
Requires GameDir >= r1987.
- If an enemy is spawned with a radio set, he is more likely to become a radio operator.
- It is now possible to mount a gun on prone allies if you are facing them on the right angle.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@7072 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- If a merc repairs up to a threshold below 100, display a slightly different message
- Due to radio operator jamming, AI red alert can fail (intentional part of the trait). In that case, forbid the soldier from using radio again this turn, as this would be a fruitless waste of APs.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@7025 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Weapons.xml tags <bRecoilX> and <bRecoilY> are now FLOAT type values. This allows to differentiate weapons by smaller steps.
- Items.xml tags <RecoilModifierX> and <RecoilModifierY> are now FLOAT types as well.
- Items.xml tag <PercentRecoilModifier> will now be displayed in UDB advanced tab.
- Item_Settings.ini has new modifiers for gun type specific <bRecoilX> and <bRecoilY>. This allows modders to quickly adjust recoil values for any gun type.
- fixed UDB description for <RecoilModifierX> and <RecoilModifierY>
- All recoil calculations now use FLOAT values for more precision.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6613 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
Gas grenades now don't cause direct damage on hit anymore. They will cause damage on start of turn or if you move inside a gas cloud. Of course gas mask still helps (except for creature gas and fire).
Every tile moved inside a gas cloud deals a percentage of the normal damage (default 10%). This is set in Item_Settings.ini (DAMAGE_HEALTH_MOVE_EXPLOSIVE_MODIFIER, DAMAGE_BREATH_MOVE_EXPLOSIVE_MODIFIER).
Tiles can now have multiple gas effects on them. Unfortunately this is not visualized (yet).
Smoke doesn't make a character immune to other gas types anymore.
The 25% chance of taking damage while moving through a gas cloud has been removed. Damage is now applied 100% of the time.
- New modifiers for explosive damage in Item_Settings.ini (DAMAGE_HEALTH_EXPLOSIVE_MODIFIER, DAMAGE_BREATH_EXPLOSIVE_MODIFIER). These could fully replace EXPLOSIVES_DAMAGE_MODIFIER in Ja2_Options.ini but I left that general modifier untouched for now.
- Some compiler warning fixes.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6517 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
-SGP debugging now works again (corrected some typos and one missing include).
-Memmory debugging works again (wrong types corrected)
-Laptop screen heigth macro and all references is now usable. (was 'C: y + A' 'D: B - C' which translates to 'D: B - y + A' instead of 'D: B - y - A')
-Laptop screens do not need to rerender as often then before as the laptop screen width/heigth macros works now and invalidating screen will do the trick -> almost no render calls neccessary.
-MercProfile.ubMiscFlag was used instead of .ubMiscFlag2 -> enter sector action schedule for soldiers which dont need to be insertered is now canceled as intended
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6509 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Add alternative fix for CalcBestShot which should remove existing APs problems maybe even create AI deadlier then ever ;-)
Details:
- Existing CalcBestShot simply became inadequate and buggier for so many add ons to game, so compiling with dnlCALCBESTSHOT is alternative option which calculate all turning, stance and raising gun cost for different stances and all available scopes, and after all hoping fix incorrect APs calculation as well, hitrate formula is adapt to 100AP system, also try to optimize a bit to get less AICalcChanceToHitGun calls and to use with different stance decisions.
- From ch58 aiming for burst and autofire was disabled as was causing invalid action handle due to incorrect APs calculation so from now aiming AI also use aiming before bursting.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6403 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Fixing Tank bursting shells problem, and some other tank related bugs.
Details:
- There are several problem with Tank handling, main was forcing to use gun although already decide to use machinegun which lead to bursting shells.
- Another one was related to machinegun usage as current autofire handling is not supported by TANK BURST animation which had limit to 6 rounds, so decision to fire anything different then 6 lead to complete wrong APs deduction.
- Fix some invalid animation decision as current tank cannot raise gun or move or check for cover.
- Fix problem with wrong return (INT8) although after introduction of 100AP system APs variables are INT16 which create bad APs calculation for tank.
- Fix general problem with burst and autofire when soldier decide to when swap weapons.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6340 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Fixing AI problems when they use launchers.
Details:
- Seems from implementation of 100AP system and new attachment system and new kind of GL launchers, AI use them improperly or not used at all. Bugs was:
- Bursting grenades from non burst launcher.
- Not use GL if grenade is already in it
- Not firing from rocket launcher if couldn't find hand grenade.
- Refusing to launch grenade from attached GL if couldn't find grenade in other pockets.
- Never fire from single rocket launchers like LAW.
- Incorrect chance to throw calculation for GLs which lead into no decision to throw.
- Whole cylinder of grenades was permanently remove from pocket after reloading launcher.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6321 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Basic support for reducing AI friendly fire.
Details:
- Friendly fire grids are defined during best shot calculation then AI decide depending of soldier character to fire or take other action. Still in autofire accidentally friendly hits could be higher depending of bullets spreading.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6313 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Fix several problems which lead into bad or no AI decisions, add optional decision of short autofire.
Details:
- Avoid use of last two locations per turn
- Fix problems with improper APs calculations for burst and autofire which lead into AI to forcably cancel and end turn for those actions.
- Add option for decide to use short autofire instead of one long to enchance chance to hit.
- After taking cover change facing toward closest enemy to avoid going in status red and rather take proper black decisions.
- Fix bad public noise processing after AI investigate closest disturbance and find nothing, also erase all same noise points in team members if one of them already investigated.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@6310 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- Fix: sometimes, capturing the last enemy did not end combat as it should
- code change: POW are no longer considered visible opponents. This avoids the error of incorrect sight counters (a bit similar to dying enemies)
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@5752 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
- individual LBE gear can be created via MOLLE items. For each LBE item, there's a definition which pockets may be changed and how much space the new pockets may take up in total.
- If there's a free pocket slot and enough space -> attach item and enable pocket.
- for further description, see Doc/Design Document- MOLLE.txt

o See: builddefines.h: #define ENABLE_ZOMBIES (then you can turn on/off Zombies in the ingame option screen)
o Poison system is still in the code and not combined with the option "Zombie MOD"
o Gamers reported on the Bears Pit, that an executable compiled WITH the Zombies mod enabled makes the game unplayable slow in tactical screen after a few minutes in turn based/realtime
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@5356 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
o if set to off, no zombies will spawn. This can also be changed in mid-game
o for more information on how this works and how to set it up, see http://www.bears-pit.com/board/ubbthreads.php/topics/295746/Zombies_WH40K_and_more.html#Post295746
o with the tag <PoisonPercentage>, you can now poison guns or ammo. This is the percentage of damage dealt that will be poisonous (see zombie thread for an explanation)
o The zombie option can only be enabled in a single player game
o AI fix: to prevent the endless clock problem, the AI now ends the turn if the same actor calls the decision routine over 100 times in a single turn.
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@5313 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
o This allows you to toggle between a gun's different scopes via the '.' key. Y
o You get the boni for vison, tunnel vison, sight range, scope magnification etc. only for the scope you use.
o 2 new ja2_options.ini properties: USE_SCOPE_MODES, DISPLAY_SCOPE_MODES: Allows the display of an icon on your gun, to tell what scope is currently in use. If it is a scope, the magnification factor also gets written. Both options can be found under the [Tactical Gameplay Settings] section in the ja2_options.ini
o new tag in items.xml (<attachmentclass>) now enables to specifiy what an attachment can do. At the moment used by grenades/rockets/scopes/sights. Items.xml changed accordingly, modders need to add this tag for those items.
o More infos: First post in: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=303038&#Post303038
- WARNING: This feature breaks savegame compatibility.
- New Feature: Tripwire-triggered mines (by Flugente)
o This allows creating complex networks of tripwire that can detonate multiple mines attached to them.
o 2 new Items.xml tags: tripwireactivation, tripwire
o More infos: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=303205&#Post303205
- Overheating addition (by Flugente)
o Severe overheating now temporarily reduces a gun's accuracy. This exact amount is displayed in the UDB.
- Bugfix (by Flugente)
o Removed foregrip as an attachment from the Saiga 12K

Notes:
-There may still be bugs!! (In fact, I almost guarantee it -- there's
-Ammo box code added to HR's crate code
-Splitting a crate/box also automatically refills half empty magazines
-new pathing arrows for map screen not included
-code for scouts to know where enemies are going doesn't appear to work... but i'm not sure it was completed.
-lots of gobledy gook (chinese?) comments turned back to english
-also added Bob's popups
-other languages besides english still need to have there language.cpp files updated with array changes
-AI enhancements by Warmsteel (reloading, suppression, roaming, avoiding gas, and other fixes)

Development Trunk: https://ja2svn.dyndns.org/source/ja2/branches/Wanne/JA2%201.13%20MP
A detailed list of all the features (changes) is visible in the history log of the development trunk:
INFO: The source code for the official 2011 release (4870) has been branched here:
https://ja2svn.dyndns.org/source/ja2/branches/JA2_rev.4870_2011
This commit contains the following features:
*** Externalized Vehicles ***
o Now with this feature we can add/remove vehicles
o New XML File: TableData\Vehicles.xml
o Added a new function parameter to lua file Scripts\Overhead lua to set up the helicopter in method: SetUpHelicopterForPlayer()
o Added example mini (Docs\Externalized Vehicles Example.zip) mod which adds 2 additional vehicles (hummer and ice-cream truck to sector A9)
*** Up to 255 save slots ***
- There is a "Next" and "Prev" button where you can scroll through the save slots
- It is now possible to load the automatic save (SAVE_EVERY_N_HOURS) from the load screen. This is the first slot after the quickload slot
- Added the 2 alternate players end turn saves (which can be enabled/disabled in option screen) to the save/load game form
*** New Feature: Externalized emails from Emails.edt to XML***
o This feature can be enabled/disabled in the Source:
--> See email.cpp: If "ReadXMLEmail" == FALSE, then normal way (read from Email.edt) otherwise read from XML files
o 2 new XML files: TableData\Email\EmailMercAvailable.xml and EmailMercLevelUp.xml
o Renamed SenderNamesList.xml to EmailSenderNamesList.xml and moved from TableData folder to TableData\Email folder
o Names for mercenaries are get from the file MercProfiles.xml and different names get from the file EmailSenderNamesList.xml
*** Externalized Hidden Towns (Tixa, Orta) ***
o Now it is possible to add new hidden towns (locations)
o See file: TableData/Map/Cities.xml
o New variable in TableData/Map/Cities.xml
- hiddenTown: 0 = show on strategy map, 1 = Hide on strategy map
- townIcon: 1 = on, 0 = off (This is the icon you see on the strategy map)
- szIconFile: The path to the sti icon file (eg: interface\prison.sti, interface\my_icon.sti)
- iconPosition: The x,y position of the icon on the strategy map
*** Encyclopedia and Briefing Room, reachable from the laptop ***
o 2 new ja2_options.ini properties: BRIEFING_ROOM, ENCYCLOPEDIA
o demonstration video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CIXdXWLrAo
o Added Example usage of the Briefing Room
- Extract it in your JA2 1.13 folder and use the latest development executable
- The briefing room can be reached from the laptop. Enter SN5631 for the code and then click the "Exit" button
- See "Info_BriefingRoom.txt" and "BriefingRoom_Mission1.png"
*** Improved interrupt system (IIS) ***
o This system changes the way interrupts work. See: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=290787#Post290787
o Option system (see ja2_options.ini: IMPROVED_INTERRUPT_SYSTEM)
o A few more settings for the interrupt system in ja2_options.ini
o INFO: Multiplayer games always use the "old" interrupt system, not matter what the user selects in the ja2_options.ini
*** Walking and sidestepping with weapon raised ***
o Enable/disable the walking/sidestepping with raised weapon in ja2_options.ini: ALLOW_WALKING_WITH_WEAPON_RAISED
o You can set an AP/BP modifier when walking/sidestepping with weapon raised in APBPConstants.ini: AP_MODIFIER_WEAPON_READY
o The following feature apply when you walk/sidestep with weapon raised:
-> limited angle of view, but you can see more farther when the weapon has a scope
-> better change for interrupts if you see an enemy
-> less APs and BPs when shooting, because the weapon is already raised
-> It should cost more APs when walking. Maybe you can export the additional AP and BP modifier to the APBPConstants.ini
*** Increase squad size to 8 (800x600) and 8 and 10 (1024x768) ***
o Squad sizes (dependend on the screen resolution) can be selected in the start new game screen
o In a multiplayer game, the squad size will always be 6, because it does not work with more soldiers/squad
*** Added UB-1.13 source code ***
o Merged the UB-1.13 source code (Revision: 4721) from svn: http://subversion.assembla.com/svn/ub-source113
o If you want to build UB-EXE or UB-MapEditor, just enable the 2 defines (JA2UB and JA2UBMAPS) in "builddefines.h"
o The UB-Verion reads from "ja2_UB.ini" instead of "ja2.ini"
o There are 2 new XML files
- Layout\LayoutMainMenu.xml
- MapAction\ActionItems.xml
o There are 2 new LUA-Script files
- Scripts\ExplosionControl.lua
- Scripts\InterfaceDialogue.lua
*** Hide enemy health text / enemy hit count ***
o ja2_options.ini: HIDE_ENEMY_HEALTH_TEXT, HIDE_ENEMY_HIT_COUNT
o both new settings only have effect in a singleplayer game
o see: http://www.ja-galaxy-forum.com/board/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=128840&page=1
git-svn-id: https://ja2svn.mooo.com/source/ja2/trunk/GameSource/ja2_v1.13/Build@4885 3b4a5df2-a311-0410-b5c6-a8a6f20db521
Now a more controversial change and perhaps unrelated now since its not in NCTH code. In line with my comment above I tried to make soldiers more likely to make a partial move toward the target if the chance to hit is really, really low and out of effective gun range but still reserving enough AP to make a partial shot. I also allowed this on Cunning soldiers instead of just aggressives figuring that target is in sight they are more likely to fight.
This with the other change has at least made them more aggressive and less likely to run in circles when armed with pistols and has actually made them quite a threat again. Not crazy about the implementation since I'd like a more accurate range check and AP calculation since AP to fire will change after movement. I figure the increased CTH by getting closer will counteract the cost to move.
